National CAPACD’s Policy Update

This summer, the Housing & Economic Recovery Act of 2008 was passed in attempts to provide relief for homeowners at risk of foreclosure. The bill included provisions to expand foreclosure mitigation counseling, buy and revitalize homes, and offer a voluntary program that would modify home loans to FHA-insured loans. more»

President Bush Signs “Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008

On July 30th, President Bush signed H.R. 3221, the largest housing bill in a generation that will provide mortgage relief for over 400,000 struggling homeowners. National CAPACD wrapped up its 9th Annual Convention, "Vision, Voices, Votes: Standing Together for Justice & Equity" in conjunction with the first ever AAPI Presidential Town Hall. Hundreds of AAPIs from community organizations, elected offices, government agencies, and advocacy groups from around the country joined the local community in Orange County, California to emphasize the power of AAPIs during this critical election year. more»

Congress Introduces Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008

This month, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) introduced the Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008, which is designed to mitigate the effects of the current mortgage crisis. This legislation is geared towards helping those people who live in their homes and hold subprime or non-traditional mortgages, like interest-only loans. Advocates say that this bill will help 600,000 households avoid foreclosure in the next two years. more»
