National CAPACD Condemns the Supreme Court Ruling on Muslim Ban 3.0

The National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD) strongly condemns the United States Supreme Court decision yesterday, which allows the Administration to fully enforce the third iteration of its Muslim Ban. The current version of the Muslim Ban will restrict nearly all travel or entry into the United States from six Muslim-majority countries, as well as North Korea and Venezuela. For every iteration of the Muslim Ban, National CAPACD will reiterate our commitment to the inherent right of all people to travel or immigrate without restriction on the basis of faith or nationality.

National CAPACD’s Executive Director Seema Agnani states “The Supreme Court’s decision to allow the current Administration to enforce the Muslim Ban, without assessing the merit of such ban, is gravely irresponsible. The Administration has repeatedly proven that it is committed to divisive policies and rhetoric that are driven by fear and hate. The highest court of law in this country is setting a dangerous precedent that the Administration does not have to be held accountable for policies that target people on the basis of faith and nationality. Though we are disappointed in the Supreme Court’s ruling, National CAPACD continues to applaud the efforts in the lower courts to challenge the Muslim Ban.”

We must not allow the current Administration to further policies based on fear and prejudice, under the guise of safety and security. The Muslim Ban revokes the right of millions to dream of creating homes and futures in this country– a dream shared by so many in our communities. Such a ban, and policies like it, are the real threat to the safety and security of our communities and their futures.
