Applications Open: 2024 Community in the Capital Fellowship
National CAPACD is excited to announce the 2024 Community in the Capital (CITC) Fellowship!
CITC is a policy advocacy fellowship for staff at National CAPACD member organizations. Over five months (May-September 2024), CITC Fellows will learn about the federal government, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI)-specific public policy advocacy, how the federal government impacts their work at the local and state government levels, and how to identify needs in their communities and translate them into policy solutions. Fellows will advance National CAPACD’s 2023-2024 Policy Action Agenda, a part of the member-driven 2021-2024 Policy Platform, by meeting with policymakers in Washington, DC. Fellows will also develop leadership and communications skills and deepen their confidence as AA and NHPI social justice leaders.
CITC aims to increase the national presence and visibility of AA and NHPI community-based organizations and emerging leaders and bridge the gap between local and federal policy advocacy. Over the past 14 years, National CAPACD has trained nearly 150 leaders from across the country, representing 50 different AA and NHPI community-based organizations, through CITC. We’re proud that CITC alumni are becoming leaders in their respective fields, growing strong peer relationships, serving on National CAPACD’s Board of Directors, and becoming policymakers themselves.
We’ll be hosting virtual office hours on April 16 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. P.T./3:30 to 5 p.m. ET to answer any questions you might have about the fellowship or application process. To accommodate various time zones, this will be an open format, where attendees can come and go as they please within this timeframe. Please register to receive a Zoom link closer to the date.
