  Census takers are instructed to wear masks, to not conduct interviews inside, and should not come within six feet of you or others in your household.
  Here are some ways you can verify if someone is a census taker for the Census Bureau:
  • Census takers will present an ID badge with:
    • their name,
    • their photograph,
    • a Department of Commerce watermark, and
    • an expiration date.
  • They will have an official bag and Census Bureau-issued iPhone 8 bearing the Census Bureau logo.
  • Census takers will conduct their work between the hours of 9am and 9pm, local time.
  • Remember, you don’t have to speak to a census taker to complete the census. You can still go online to respond at 2020census.gov, call the Census Bureau at 844-330-2020, or return the pre-paid paper form that was delivered to your home.
